water injection

I talked to a person on here and he said that the water injection actually raises your egt's. Does anyone run this and is this true. I would like to do the winshield washer injection if it actually lowers your egts. I am at the end of my tour here in iraq and I have many things already on order. Just want to know if the 400 bucks is worth it. Thanks for the help.

Never heard of water making an engine hotter. If it wasn't for water injection on the pulling truck i'd be able to pour the pistons out of the oil pan.

Actually it can raise the EGT's, I've found in the (almost 2 years) that I have been fooling with it that if you inject water/methanol or windshield washer fluid at a low level it will raise EGT's a bit, if this happens you need to add more nozzles or increase water flow (pressure) and they will drop.

My questions are: is it worth it, how much power do you gain, and how much fluid do you go through in lets say 500 miles? I am still deciding if I should add this. I have some Mach 4's on order, and a new turbo. Just dont want to waste money.

Rid of

I tested water injection (no methanol) this last summer and found:
-Does not increase EGT's
-Doubled the time it takes EGT's to peak
-Went from 50 to 51 psi boost using water injection
-With straight water injection, EGT's tend to peak and than drop...200-400 degrees.
It does what I need it to do...help control EGT's so I can play longer with the power I have.

Not clear if you are asking about injecting windshield washer fluid, or straight water from the washer fluid reservoir.. with washer fluid (containing meth) you will get some added power and higher EGT's that will drop off also.

Doing WOT test runs (about 1/2 mile each...I would use up washer bottle of water (1 gal) in 8-9 test runs, with injection system set at max settings. Towers claim to need larger than 1 gallon supply when towing heavy in the mountains. For more info on towing with Injection system, read this... http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...d.php?t=111147

It took a little more than a week, but the system is in and I'm happy. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=58837
