VP44 Dead. Need Advice
Well I think it took a crap on me today. Lift pump has pressure cuz I opened the valve on the fuel filter and bumped the starter and had plenty of fuel dumping on the ground.
Could it be anything else?
How hard is the pump to replace? Special tools?
Where is the best place to buy a pump from? I have read people puting a SO pump on an HO. Is that the best way to go?

you need to pull codes first..there are some that condem a VP
other things that it could be
pump was airlocked, usually caused by letting off the throttle very quickly after a WOT run.
fuel gauge reads 1/4 or better but is actually empty.
search you-tube for dieseldans video on how to change a VP.
with average tools and medium skill you can do it in about 4-6hrs, skilled mechanic approx 2-3hrs

VP's are easy, worst thing is getting the injection lines off the back of the pump and lining up the key into the gear. I was going to say 1 to 1 1/2hr's. Everyone seems to give me all of their VP's these day. I have a bit of a collection of them going. Been trying to use them all up and get a Pee pumper on the truck. Just got two used VP's in the last two week's.
