use the transgo kit and drill the hole sizes in the middle range of the speck .

mine works great .

Just finished putting a Transgo shift kit in this evening. Its not that hard. No special tools required. I can't overstate the advice to take your time. Read and re-read the instructions, they area little vague. Keep in mind the instructions and parts included may be for more than one model of transmission, so keep in mind that fact while you are doing the task. Don't be frightened if there are extra parts left over.
Give your self plenty of time and work space, it will probably take more than you originally thought. Keep things clean with plenty of spray parts cleaner.

I installed a SMR kit in mine, I have used Transgo kits also. The SMR instructions explains what each step does or improves or upgrades. Pretty good instructions

Take your time, dont try and get it done in a set amount of time, read and reread the instructions, Have a nice clean large work bench, and again take your time

I like my SMR , nice quick, firm shifting and more oil volume to the TC lockup

My friend has a trans shop and we compared SMR with the Transgo instructions

I agree, read the instructions and reread. My .02 use synthetic atf fluids well worth it. Also install a drain plug kit in your tranny pan at the same time.
I have had no problems with my tranny after installing the transgo kit.

Because contrary to popular belief, not every transmission builder uses a off the shelf shift kit. Most builders have the valves made for their use with different profiles and springs. Also, some tranny builders will not accept your VB as a core when you do a shift kit since the transgo shift kits make some modifications on the VB that are not used by them. So, in a nutshell, shift kits are good and as stated, they are a lot less. But if you plan on building your tranny in the future, contact your builder of choice and make sure they will accept your VB as core with a trans go shift kit installed. It will save you from being charged a core later.

a 47re valve body is a 47re valve body. the "heavy duty" ones you buy for $400+ are stock valve bodies with some holes bored out and a spring swap ( a shift kit already installed). if youre taking the valve body out yourself, might as well do the shift kit yourself too!
