used IIvp44hr?
used IIvp44hr?
someone may be offereing me an II vp44HR and i was wondering what you guys think about me buying it which sounds like id be atleast the 3rd owner.
he says that the guy before him had it at 2 sled pulls and hes had it at 1. he has not had it on his truck for that long at all. but the guy before him may have had it on for a while...well not being sure of how old it really is, if the price is right (which what would be right?) should i take it? maybe i can send it to industrial injection and have them do some kind of service on it? idk.

400 dollars. Thats the core charge on a rebuilt one, so thats all its really "worth"
That being said, i would not give that for it. Buying a used vp is like buying a used rental car... both are worthless junk IMHO because both will fail.

I see used and so called NIB VP44"s on ebay a lot. It is absolutely astounding that guys will pay almost new price for them and not have a warranty or any kind of guarrentee!! None of them are worth more than core price at best even if it says NIB!! Guys must be desperate or stupid to pay those prices!!

There's one in the dtr classifieds for $500. It's always nice to have a spare vp44 handy, but if the previous owners ran an aggressive boxes there should be a good amount of wear.
I'd think if they had a redline running 4k rpms or low fp or whatever would have more to do with duarability than if the pump is a hot rod version or not.
All the newer pumps have numerous bosch updates
