Re:Upgrade Brakes?
I'd stay away from cross drilled rotors. I've seen to many rotors crack right at the hole. And with the amount of weight we have on these trucks, and the amount of heat we create, I wouldn't want a rotor that already has a hole in it. A set of slotted rotors would be nice though. I don't know of anyone who makes a rotor for our trucks though (never looked really either). As for pads, a set of metallics(or semi, don't remember) or ceramic pads are the best out there. If you really want to do your brakes right, I'd go with a set of stainless steel lines as well.

https://www.kvrperformance.com/index.html You can also try this comapany they are up in ur neck of the woods somewhere. I have use them on several applications in the past and was very happy the pads they were using was performance friction. You may or maynot want to use them until after you talk to them.
you can akso check my web page for a conversion i did on my Old Suburban.

Re:Upgrade Brakes?
WOOFF,
First off congrats for wanting to improve your trucks braking, and for wanting to do it right. The big problem with most people they have no fore-sight, they can not imagine what it would be like to have BETTER brakes. The old if it isn't broke don"t fix it. The solution that worked for me, was a combination for EGR and RAYBESTOS. I wanted a heavey duty rotor, but I also wanted something better then stock, something that would help impove upon what I had. Egr sells rotors in there kit, they are very nice, and if you got yours from them you would be satisfied. I went to RAYBESTOS and got a set of there SUPER STOPPERS, they are cross drilled, gas slotted, and are extreme duty rated. I know some don't like drilled rotors, but I think most of the fears are from people that tryed to drill there own and had bad experiences. I went to raybestos because I liked there rotors, and they were as good as what EGR sold, only I saved my self about $ 300.00. For new calipers I also went with raybestos, they were very high quality, and the only thing EGR does different to there's is "hand fit the piston", well there isn't much room for error there, and again I saved $ 200.00 (also saved the postage of sending back the cores). For everything else I relied on EGR BRAKES, they supplied the carbon/kevlar front pads, and rear shoes. The new stainless steel lines, larger rear wheel cylinders, hardware kits, syn brake fluid, caliper paint, ect. They were very good to work with, and shipped everything right out. The installation is strieght forward and if you have a manual nothing but follow the steps. The real pay-off was when you are behind the wheel, these brakes stop, with much less distance needed. The larger rear wheel cylinders are a blessing, they now make the shoes grab, and it is noticable. The whole installation is expensive, but not so much more that it's not feasible. I am very happy with the over all performance of the up-grade, and as an added bonus, there is much less brake dust.
