uh oh.........

dunno if this is in the right forum, if not i apologize and please move it

now i got my pup today (pics up later) and i took off real easy coming home. (dont do this very often) and i herd this awful knock. It wasnt really loud, but enought to make me paranoid. (sp?) anyways, it seemed to get worse as i got home. it dosnt do it in neutral setting still, or in neutral when im driving. i can rev it up in neutral and it dosnt do it, but as soon as i put it in gear its "knock knock knock knock knock" varies of course with the rpm.

Please tell me its the 2k tranny instead of the 8k motor.

oh and my trans dosent have working syncros. Ideas??

Does it matter if the clutch is in/out? My first guess is something with the clutch...

Bryan

i had that happen to me when i had my old F250, it was exactly what you said, and it turned out being that the clutch went out. Now i dont know how hard you are on your dual disk, but in my old ford the springs came out and the disc was cracked, and i heard the same knocking in second third and fourth. Im not certain what went out, (i wasnt into mechanics at that time ) but i knew it was in the tranny..

you may want to kep the driving to a min as the 6speeds are no longer made and I think are getting harder to get new ones/parts for one

link I found for some parts http://www.quad4x4.com/NV5600%20parts.htm

also do a search on here about the 5600 and see if it comes up with anything I'm still looking at my options

Maybe it is a sign that you need a 10-speed and ditch the 6 for all that hay you haul.
Just another option maybe.

Son...if they are popping that loud....you wont need a lift to check them! Unload the drive train and just wiggle the drive shaft back and forth!

i dont crawl under anything anymore. everything that requires me getting under a vehicle is getting on the lift.

went out and drove it again. im beginning to think its the clutch. i may have to see if peter has had a problem like this before....
