Twins Air Filter question
For those who are running the air filter right on the inlet of the bottom turbo, what filter are you running? Are you running a remote oil filter as well? I've got about 8.5" from edge of the turbo inlet and the oil filter. Not sure if I'll be able to squeeze a 9" in there once it slips on, will have to do a bit more research on the subject.

Is that in the 3rd gen they did, or have they done a 2nd gen BB twins? Maybe I will call Harry tomorrow and see what they have. I found a couple options on AFE's site, but not sure on the airflow requirements. The bottom turbo is capable of 110 lb/min, not sure what that equates in CFM.

11.2 cf per lb so you are looking at about 1200cfm maxed out. If you have to use a small filter make sure you keep it clean so it does not start to bypass dirt; the more face loading on the filter the more likley it will sent dirt to the turbo. I talked to an AFE engineer about their products and he really urged me to go with the 7 layer oiled gauze as it is designed to work better with turbos. You might take that into consideration.

Mines a AFE 24-50512. I have a new sit in my garage, if you're in a hurry. I saw that "Gates" in town sells the air boot that goes on the HBTH-3B, so that might work for ya. My air inlet tubing is 5in to air filter. Tate, if you buy any 5in exhaust save the extra lenghts as NAPA sells them in 8ft lenght. How are you going to set-up the 5in exhaust as you need a 45 deg bends to clear the tranny? You'll all need a 5in turbine exhaust flange. The trick part is finding all the little pieces.
You still have that channel steel laying around? You in town or working. I'll call later on, maybe I can get a sneak peek of the new set-up. I might even drag the old girl over so you can laugh at it again.

The exhaust out of the turbine is actually a 3-1/2" outlet, so I have an adapter to 4", and have the first 45 welded on already. Gonna wait till I get the whole works into the truck before I fully weld up the down pipe, so its not gonna be a wrong fit. The stack kit is a 4" inlet anyway, so it will be a 4" under the cab.
The compressor inlet is 5". I was talking to Harry today about gettin a filter for it. Then I looked a bit closer in the engine bay, and it looks like AC lines might be in the way of it anyway, so I might have to make a filter pipe. I'd really love to have a big enough garage where I could put all on the dually and see how it fits, and not having to worry about getting it out of the driveway.

You're sisters will love ya for sure if you stretch out you garage. It will be filled with more dodge/cummins parts anyways. Kinda sounds like my garage, too.
Something for you to consider, the twin air filter on my truck gets dirty fast. The blow-by off the engine coats filter and the road grime. If you can put the filter on fender and seal up the area (cold air effect) would be sweet up. I want to do something like that but I do too much dreaming these days about doing things and get stuck working.

I will have my bigger garage next year, 30x30. Just need time for the house to be built, then I can get started on the garage. It might end up being next year that I get these things on.

I was just looking at that on the Peak website:

Cool! Does it use the same threads and all that, so the same filters work?
