Twin lift pumps?

I think Im going to use the second pump as a pusher pump and put it somewhere on the rail close to the tank, and I will put a T connector in front and behind the pump with a check valve between them so if the pump goes bad it will bypass and still pull through the check valve...any bets that it will work?
