which turbo for me?
II's silver bullet?
Ok here is the deal I have my hx-35 on top of a b2(s400) right now and eveybody says its is such a fast spooling setup. Well not for me I just cant seem to ever get it right. So I think Im done trying to get it working right so What turbo will be best for me? I was thinking a silver bullet from II..what are yalls thoughts I want to find a pretty fast spooling single so does anybody have any experience with the silverbullet turbos and a 6spd? How laggy will it be. Thanks,
Kevin

i really like the htt62/13/71ss that i run. not sure what silver bullets are but i would assume a 62/14/71 from idustrial would be about the same. the ss isnt much laggier than the stocker but when it lights of its a quick charger. i have mine running about 50-55# of boost at the moment, egts can climb up if i mash the petal on a long run but other than that they are really controllable.
hope this helps

If you dont like the spool of a twin setup using the stock turbo, I dont think you are going to like the spool of the silver bullet. It takes a little while to spool, its not quick at all to 10psi but after that you are gone. At least this is my experience. I have run both a 64/71/14 and the bullet and obviously the stocker too. The 64 spooled alot faster IMHO. I didnt consider that one laggy or slow to spool. The silver bullet is a different story, I consider it fairly slow to spool. But like I said once you hit 10psi its off. However after running both turbos I would never want the 64 back (partly because of a bad experience with HTT) but it was still a nice turbo, If I towed alot I would want that.
To be honest though I think the Silver bullet would be a bit to big for your truck but then again you might like it. If your planning on keeping your current fueling setup I would consider maybe a silver 62 or MAYBE a 64 if you want the silver series but probably not the bullet (66). You also have to think about how much you tow, if you dont mind smoke, and how much room you want to grow.
These are all just thoughts, and purely opinion, if you have any more specific question on how the silver bullet behaves I have an 01 6-spped like you with some decent fueling so I can let you know how it performs on my truck in given situations.
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck,

yea i think a good streetable charger is going to be a right in the 62/14/71 area whether its from industrial or htt they are a good fun single. not sure where im at in hp but if i had to guess probally 500-550.

What do you mean that you "can't seem to get it right"? Rather than throw another turbo at the problem, maybe it would be worth finding out what's wrong?
The B2s are popular primaries, but they have largish turbine housings that promote top end power over spoolup-- from what I think I know.
IMO (take with grain of salt) the stock turbo is a little too small to be used with a B2 optimally without a large external wastegate. The turbine of the stock turbo simply can't flow enough gas to help get the B2 up and running.
The HX40 Holset is more commonly used with the B2, and while this combo is laggier, it will generally make more power because the turbos are more optimally matched.
If you think your current twins set is laggy, forget anything larger than a 62mm turbo. A 64 or 66 will be slow to respond by your measure if you think a stocker is slow.
If you want something that responds pretty quickly but still cools EGT reasonably well, try something with a smaller turbine and a slightly larger housing. Something like a 62mm inducer with the 65mm turbine and a 14 or 16 housing. The 71mm turbine will spool harder, but later (if that makes sense) and it will likely make more power and cool EGTs even better at higher HP.
Another option to make good power and spool well while being affordable is a 3rd gen stock turbo. Plenty of guys are seeing 450+hp with these, and they are CHEAP.

If yall had my truck what turbo would yall put on there if you were wanting to be in the 500-550ho range and still be able to drive down the street without blowing smoke 24/7? Im just trying to find something to "fit" me a little better without going broke.
Thanks,
Kevin
Ok talked to a few people that a pretty knowledgable today and they seem to tell me to go with the silver 62. Do yall still think a 62 is going to be the best for me? I want to try and get to around 550hp on fuel only and then later down the road maybe throw a little nitrous at it
. So does this sound better and maybe one day upgrade to the 66.

the silver 62 has the 71 mm housing so i think that would be a perfect setup. arnt those things rated all the way to 600hp, or is that the silver 64? have you ever thought of swapping the primary with to somthing smaller?

Thats the website for industrial silver series turbo's. I think the 62 will be better for me. It says it can support up to 650hp which is more than Im going to be at for a long time.
