Exclamation Turbo Compressor Wheels....please read!

Hey, I was talking to my mechanic the other day and he said that I might try looking into getting a high performance compressor wheel for my turbo. He said his stock turbo got about 14-18psi, tops. No other modifications to it, then he installed a performance compressor wheel and is getting 38psi.

I'm wondering where I can get a performance compressor wheel??? I've searched online, but keep finding stock replacements, nothing different. Anyone have suggestions?? Thanks!!!

Start by asking your mechanic!!!
Changing 'wheels' usually require some machine work.

He must drive a Ford. Changing the compressor wheel won't net you more boost.

Yeah, he's got a Ford 7.3 No he didn't mean the whole turbo, maybe the wheel and housing?? I've seen kits for only those. Well maybe I'll just wait till Monday and ask him about it more and where. I just thought I'd try here so I didn't have to wait till then.

I'd think about changing your mechanic, not your turbo..

Regardless what compressor you have the small housing on the hot side is going to make things hot with that hy35. I can't say I've heard of an upgraded compressor on that turbo though =\

just some info for ya,
My stock hy35 on my 95' puts out 34 psi right now(wast gate not hookd up). I think its all she gonna handle for the long run.
The only thing I heard of doing to a hy35 is to put a hy40 comp. wheel and housing on it.(a hy35/40 hybrid) I think that can yeild around 38 psi saftly.
By the way only heard of ford drivers changing there "wheels".

Pretty sure your running an HX-30...not an HY, Which has a 12cm2 housing instead of the 9cm2.

You can upgrade to a "Hybrid" which will flow more air but will give you a weaker turbo since your running a bigger wheel on the same shaft. Check HTT's website, they have wheels with housings you can buy to upgrade your turbo, its cheaper, but not real cheap.

Look around and do some reading. You can spend a lot of money on ANY turbo website!
