Turbo back CHOICE for a 99 CTD
hi guys I have saved money for a new turbo back system, complete exhaust I want a sys without the loud tone or the stressing in cab drone, what's the best choice?
I don't like LOUD sound, prefer it sounds like a straight piped truck...
I saw Diamond Eye exhaust on ebay for 259 bucks, very low price, they are great? thanxs to all

i would say just get a cheep 4" aluminized exhaust off ebay. They are all essentially the same thing. You can change the sound quite a bit just with the tip. If you have a 4" system and no tip or a 4" tip it wont be too loud. 4" w/ a 5" tip or 5" w/ a 6" tip and it starts getting pretty dang loud. Stacks can be pretty overpowering in the cab too
he is right the tips make a difference. i had a 5" exhaust with out no tip. it was kinda loud but when i put a 6" dual wall tip on it last week it made it loud. its very noticable in the cab now.
If you want a drone free system, get a muffler with whatever system you go with. My MBRP 4" aluminized system has a great big rig exhaust note but zero drone on the highway.
Roll the windows up, sounds very close to stock, roll down the passenger window if you want to hear the big exhaust echo off of fences, walls, and tunnels.

The stainless steel will generally last a lot longer - especially if you live where they use salt on the roads in the winter. Which is probably not an issue for you.
