4" turbo back compared to 5" turbo back on an 06

Thinkin about getting a 4" or 5" turbo back no muffler and no cat. Is there any difference in sound or performance? i'm gonna have it go all the way to the back with a 6" tip sticking out a little pass the bumper.

also will air intake acessorys affect the sound of the exhaust?

btw this is on a 2006 5.9 dually

There is a world of difference IMO. Mine is 4" with aeroturbine muffler, his is 5" with same brand muffler, the 5" sounds WAY better to me, way way deeper. Mine sounds good till I hear his.

I have a 5' Magnaflow system on mine with muffler and no DPF. I couldn't imagine the drone without a muffler. I like mine though, it's got a distinct sound like no other.

Shouldn't have a DPF being that it's a 5.9L, maybe you mean no CAT?

As for my opinion go with a 5" exhaust. Either Magnaflow or MBRP. Both are great products. If you want a 4" just order a aftermarket muffler and take it to shop and have them install the muffler and cut the kitty out. No need to spend money on a 4" exhaust kit when you already have one.

Yep, the larger the pipe, the deeper it'll sound, more open volume. Only thing is it'll probably drone more too.

Oh yea I would just stay far away from rpm outlet. Honestly i would give a holler to the DTR store.

I may get banned for this lol , but i have had friends have good luck with FBD Farm Boys diesel. There have been some problems with them before I believe, but my friends have had good luck, and the prices are great!

I also got a 5" turbo back and really enjoy it. I made it a side exit with only what comes with the kit.. Im just a little different than most I guess.

You're right it's a CAT, but I can tell you that it also filters all kinds of stuff. I've got black stains on the bedside to prove it which is why I refer to it as a DPF.
