Tuning my HTB2 using a manual boost controller
I have ordered a MBC and should be installing it this weekend. Right now my HTB2 is wastegated at 38psi (from factory). I want to see if a few more psi will cool the EGT's down any. What are you HTB2, B-1, etc, guys running as far as boost? Do you know at what point these S-300 style turbos are out of their map? I'll probably try 40psi first and go from there. Any suggestions? Thanks,

I'd try 45psi. That's about it for the B1s, and I'd imagine the HTB2 uses similar wheels.
Remember, the MBC can only INCREASE boost over what the WG is set for. It won't take much cranking on the MBC to get 40+.
Most of those MBCs can add up to 30psi to WG settings! So it doesn't take many turns to see a difference.

I used 45 psi on my KSB-1 for drag racing....40 psi for daily driving.
My drive pressures at 45 psi were 45 psi....1:1 ratio.
At 50 psi my drive pressures were 65 psi.

Where are you getting your MBC from? I have a HTB2 turbo also and have been thinking about going with a MBC. I'm running about 42lbs. of boost. I've had it up to about 46lbs. and it didn't seem to cool any better, or run any better but was LOUDER.

I bgt the JoeP...cheapest one they have, I think. no clicker for settings...but is easy enough to adjust. Can adjust 1 psi at a time if wanted.
Works very well so far...after 1 week. Will have to wait and see how it holds up...but have been told they do fine.

Normally a B-1-2 or smaller B-1 should be wastegated @ 40 psi, a full B-1 @ around 43 psi. They will make more boost without failure but it wont make any mopre power, the higher boost #'s are just creating more backpressure. Remember guys more boost doesn't always mean more HP or lower egts. On my truck I am running a steroid B-1 and using a dyno for tuning we found between 45-46 psi was the best for power and egt..... Going above 46 psi yeilded almost no HP gain but did equal an increase in egt's. This truck is making in excess of 600 RWHP.
