There is a powermax, pm2, pm3, and pm3 competition edition. Pm is 60 hp, pm2 is 90, and pm3 is 120.

Did a quick search and here's some discussions on TST and HO motors:

the box is rated at 180 hp none the less. He will only see about 110 out of it or so.

PM Comp is, by definition, a PM3.... with extra fueling on top. Has an Orange label on it... but I had mine upgraded ($50.00) and it came back with no label change??
Setting #5 on the Comp Box is equal to #9 on the standard PM3. Settings #6-9 behave differently on different trucks. Some say they see no difference above #5 (these are, I suspect HO's). I notice quite a bit of difference.

Some trucks shudder with a comp on #5 while others say it's not bad till you get to #8 or #9. Suspect it depends on what other 'bombs' you have, but I don't really know why.

If your looking at a used TST Comp, just set it at whatever setting works best for your setup.

I tried the comp version on setting 5 and 6 gave as much fuel as 8 and 9 on the regular version. Above setting 6 was way to much pump shutter.

RJ. I ran at the track with the Smarty on number 5 and regular TST on 9, I gained a little over a tenth and 1 mph. Some of the improvement could have been cooler weather. Always launched around 15 psi.

#5 & #9 as opposed to what?

You saying lower Smarty setting worked better?

I used to run the Smarty on #7 and TST on 8, always ran a 13.44 or so...

I tried the Smarty on 5 and was able to run the TST on 9 went 13.30.

I'm still running below a 1.80 60'... 1.77 to be exact.

Yup. Same pump, just one uses more volume and less pressure while the other uses less volume and more pressure. The interesting thing will be the higher compression on the HO and the different ECM's.

So it requires an ecm swap? Or use the smarty to reprogram it somehow?

Shouldn't need to. When I had my catcher I swapped it from my SO to my buddies HO and it ran perfectly normal. I forgot about that when I put that post up a minute ago.

I read here that you can go one way, but not the other. No personal experience, can't find the thread (I thought I had bookmarked) and working from memory, so ......?

When I had a MAD ECM I could get quenching off the line with TST on #9.... so what you say makes sense. Less likely with twins, but will have to try lower Smarty setting next time at track (29th)..... after I test my smaller tires (265/70/17's).
