tst pm3 stacked with ez

will a tst 3 stacked with a ez make better or more power than a drag comp. i have been told the stacked is the better way to go. before i spend more of the kids colledge fund on more bombs i would like to know if it will be worth while. any comments would really help.

thanks mooseman

I don't think so. from comparisons I've read...they're similar...Maybe the drag comp is a little hotter!. I would think your Drag Comp is your hottest bomb! IMO your combo is limited by your turbo (are your EGT's high?) and/or your Jammers. Are you sure you have a matched set? Have heard of major variations within sets...which can cause HP problems.

I love my stack..but have not compared it to a Drag Comp.

the jammers run to good not to be matched. no hp problems, just want more if its available. its hard to beat the drag comp and i do not think it can be done in my opinion. just trying to varify the rumers ive been hearing.

The TST 3 Comp version is a little hotter then the Edge drag comp. Fuels till about 3400rpm, and comes on really strong in the low end. Can't tell you about timing, as I have yet to decide on which timing box I am going to go with.

Here's post I made awhile back on comparing the 2 boxes you're considering:

Please feel free to ask if you have any other questions about the stack. I wish I'd researched it a little bit more before I bought my TST box & sold it at a loss.

Go drag comp for 2nd gen trucks.
Personal experience, no head aches.

Well, maybe cut & paste will work.

I can honestly say there's very little difference in just a drag comp VS. the tst pm3 comp stacked over the drag comp in EZ mode -- I drove both of them last week on my truck. With the 2 boxes stacked, the truck smoked a little more down low. However, the top end power was too close to the same to feel the difference between the two setups. Power comes on a little sooner with the tst box, but the same power is available with the drag comp. The tst box is HARSH and bucking is an everyday occurance. Not so with the Edge.

The biggest difference? Being lazy, the buttons on the drag comp are much easier to press and respond immediately. (pesky ricers beware.)

Edge 1, TST 0

We're big fans of the PM3 Comps around here. A PM3/EZ/Superchips stack will out-dyno a Drag Comp/Superchips stack, depending on injectors and turbos of course. The PM3 definitely has a stronger bottom side than the DRAG Comp. Reliability on the PM3s is also far and away better than the Edge product these days.

But as others have stated, the PM3 does have some drawbacks. If you use laggy turbos like HX40/16s, you will experience some bucking during cruise as the TST box will attempt to fuel on and off based on the light boost the turbo is making. We've had success with some custom programs, but we generally like to see good, quick spooling turbos mated to the TST box to make it smooth.

The other drawback of a TST Competition box is pump shudder. Some people experience heavy pump shudder in levels 6 through 9 (the competition modes). VERY heavy shudder doesn't occur on many trucks, but we have run into some. Usually its a light shudder on defuel.

Original question, as I read it, was EZ/PM3 (non-comp) vs Edge Drag Comp. Any opinions which it stronger?

Thanks Barry,

I didn't know it, but when I bought the truck it didn't have any fluid in the transfer case. That time it chewed up $12 of plastic spacers on the mode shift fork in the transfercase. No other real damage to the transfer case besides the shift fork wearing a little bit. I've since replaced that shift fork.

I like the burnout video too.

Hmmmm, actually never did a comparison of non-competition version PM3/EZ with a Drag Comp. I would think the DRAG Comp would come out on top by a few ponies though.
