TRUCKS BACK , and stacks are in!

Well, I got my truck back from DAVE GOERENDS, and holy !!! Completly different truck! shifts firm and no more slop between second and drive in the RPMs. it will really go with the 100 plate I got in it!, I got billit shafts, billit plate and a triple disc TC, and He threw in all new tranny lines, NEW oversized front tranny cooler,{he took the old one out, and bypassed the one on the P-side of engine, and even bought a new TPS and thru it in on the deal}. I advertise for him and meet up with him alot, so He gave me a deal!$3400.00 all said and done!, we went over everything he put in and it should have been $4650.00 I even got a 100,000 mile warrenty on the tranny and all the componits and lifetime warrenty on the TC., I got the truck back and put the stacks in it right away! Man, WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG!! I will get pix sometime ths week. I went a little different on my box setup to channel the flow a little better. I will explain this more when I get the pix!, Later ya'll

That's not doodah's truck!

That picture was taken @ Thunder in Muncie last year.

The guy finally downsized to 5" flat top stacks this year @ IRP.

Nope, Thats not my truck!! thanks For jumpin in Mark, Yah, I got to take that PIC off of my photo album, this isnt the first time I have been asked if that was mine! Nope, I went with a crossover box, with the ends tapered for flow up into the 4 inch pipes that are welded on the ends of the tube and are 16" long, then I welded my 5" miter cut stacks outside the 4" and left drain holes for the water to run out. I also cut a hole in the top of the tube, directly ontop of where my exhaust come into the bottom of the box, took a plate, welded a piece of angle iron upside down on the plate, then welded it on the hole for even flow from the exhaust. I used 4X4 square tubing for the cross box. then I welded 4 -2 1/2" bolts to the side facing the back of the truck, got a piece of diamond tread cut the same length as the box, and bolted it to the back of the tube for a heat shield. then I will cover the topside of the bed infront of the toolbox with a piece of diamond tread, similar to Rob Thomas's. I have gotten somany looks around here with them in!, there isnt anybody around here thats got them!, I even had a bunch of cowgirls at Walmart stop and take pictures of it! they thought it was the most awsome truck they seen!

Haha cool. How does having that tube steel cross over box with 90* SHARP angles affect exhaust flow, versus radiused 90* round tubing?

What kind of drain? Just a petcock or what?

No specific drain, just left a spot open when I welded the 5" to the tubing. the water will run out of the hole, and whats left just kindof disapates or blows out. it will leave some little black spots, but the sweet sound and the looks, make up for it! the *90 cut on the tube work very well. I have sen alot of guys do the tubing with flat ends and the pipes welded on, and this just seemed like a better flowing design.I also thought having the angle iron welded into it, it evens the flow out. the 4" downpipe , and exhuast I also made coming into the tube, comes just about to the center of the box, but not quite, so I put the angle in there to make sure, I will try to get some pix this week and get them posted for ya"ll.

Dave sure makes a great tranny. Had them install it too. Wish I hadn't waited so long. I HATED my stocker. The stock TC was the worst part of it. Truck flies now. Can't slip this one. Great road manners. Can shift light around town, or shift real firm and shove you into the seat when you hammer down.

Wish I had gotten the Billet shafts and the laminated flex plate ($$$ thing at the time). Got bit by the BOMB bug again, and the sled pulling itch really bad . Might need to go back up there, and get the shafts and flexplate.

Love my stacks, too. Sound great. Gonna flat top them and put on rain caps though. I like the way it looks now, but VERY tired of washing soot off a white truck. Seen a few trucks with rain caps, and they looked pretty good to me.

This style-

You'll love the power and smoke of the 370s.

If you are making enough heat, they don't smoke much. If not, there is plenty of white smoke. Even sitting at a stoplight, from just coming off the interstate.

My timing still needs to be advanced, so that is making the problem that much worse. Only had the 370s since last summer. Were in over the winter.
