triple disk or single convertor
In my opinion, stick with a single disc until you exceed its horsepower levels and need a triple disc. You have to be careful where you get a triple disc converter from. They're not all made the same.
I think you should be concerned much more with the fluid coupling characteristics of the TC than with the method of lockup.
As long as the lockup clutch holds the torque it's the same whether it has one or 10 disks.
The fluid coupling is what gets you rolling etc. So if you have the wrong setup there (it needs to be matched to your engine mods, tire size, axle ratio etc) you will not be happy with it until you reach lockup speed.

Under 500hp go with a single disc. I thought thats all I would ever need but I did eventually fry one, but that was with 790hp Spraying. Just make sure you get one with good fluid coupling.

Which tire size and which axle ratio?
A lot of aftermarket converters do lower the stall point (which is good) but some offer more torque multiplication in your setup's sweet spot.
So the phone calls to the different vendors are money and time well spent. If a vendor tells you that he has the best TC for all setups.... take it with a grain of salt.
I haven't shopped for TCs for some years now so I can't say which vendor is good now, I still have my DTT and am really content with it. (It matches my driving style, my roads and my engine mods)
