ok i have been wondering if i need a tripple disk tc or not im going for somewhere around 600hp tops. i hear good things about dtt and that there single disk can handle big power. i dont tow all that often, just looking for something that is streetable and way better than stock. i am thinking a single is what i need since i dont tow often or sled pull. i want to go with dtt since i hear good things from them.

 

I'd go triple with 600 hp.

 

Either will prob work fine. But I love my DTT Triple!! Why settle when your spending that kind of money!??

so the tripples are that much better than the singles so it would be worth it to spend the extra 300 or so to get the tripple.

 

If you slip the single you'll be kicking yourself around the block.

I cheaped out and went with a single that I was assured would be fine. Now I can slip it whenever I want to. Oh wait, I don't want to! Next time it's the triple for me.

What brand single did you use? I am using the DTT super single and have had no trouble with slipping.. Believe I am just shy of 600hp and have tall gearing from 3.73's and 34.5" 19.5 tires..

Local DTT rep had recommended the single because I use truck for my daily driver and the triples add alot of weight to the TC setup. The triples are a nice piece but do not think the single will give you trouble unless you plan to abuse the you-know-what out of it..

jp-4.5 what did you pay for yours if you dont minde me asking, and what converter is it? i was thinking of a single as well my buddy had a 2nd gen with a single and pushing well over 500 if not near 6 and he loved it. do you have a billet output as well? thanks

 

I have DTT trans and converter all Billet except for the output. Massdiesel did the upgrade/install and recommended leaving the output stock. When the output breaks it can be repaired without removing trans. Just the tail piece needs to come off. Less damage to trans if the output is the weak link. I am not that hard on the equipment. I wanted solid shifts and power to the ground. It must be close to 35k since adding the DTT and wish I had done that way sooner. It is hard to remeber the exact cost of converter as I had trans and other items all done at the same time. I think it was in the $1300 range for the Super Single.

 

that is pricey but if it handles it so be it right

Scott at Massdiesel is a great resource that I am glad is local. When I have questions I trust his his word and it has not bit me once. Plenty of others in this area also depend on him for the diesel performance.

Mine's not a super single and I can't remember the company. It was a local shop in Sacramento that was recommended by my tranny guy. Anyway, with 174 thou on the clock and slipping in lockup, it's about time for a real upgrade. I'll check out the DTT super single you mentioned.

 

i put a triple in mine and if i had it to do all over again, i would do the single instead. don't get me wrong, i love my dtt transmission, but the lock up on the triple is pretty hard (at least it is in my case.)

 

Just my $.02, and I don't know what part of WI you're from, but maybe you should check out a Goerand transmission. They are located in Iowa, and I'm real happy with mine. The wife and I just took a trip up to WI and MN from TX, and I thought about stopping in Iowa to see the Goerand guys for fun, but the wife said no, too many malls, and not enough time. Anyway, see my sig. for details, but I'm real happy I went with a triple disk.

 

do it right the first time! get a triple disk. simple as that!

 

I have a triple Suncoast.........they do lock up a bit stiffly.
