Transmission Gurus!

i need someone that can confirm what i've been told, i won't say by who but here's the story.

got a tranny i wanna buy, goerend, came out of a 99 and i wanna put it in my 02. i've been told that the torque converter and the valve body basically won't work for my truck. don't know the specifics as to why but that's what i'm told. can anyone confirm this.

I know the 2001 and 2002 trucks shift differently and lock the converter differently, but that is the programming in the module, not the trans, maybe thats what he had it confused with?

Who told you that? If hope you don't listen to what they say very often.

Torque converter will bolt up, no problems.

Who ever told you about the valve body might be right, but I would confirm with Dave first. Sometime around 99/2000 there was a change to the valve body.

the only change is the governor pressure sensor and governor pressure solenoid. Once those are changed, it will work fine.

well, i'll break the secret to ya. his name was less, he works at goerend brothers, still haven't been able to talk to dave personally, they're supposed to call me back to day with the records of that exact trans and tell me if it'll work or not. less was a real helpful guy but didn't seem to know quite as much as dave.

i'll let ya'll know what happens.

IIRC this correctly you will run into some problems with the electrical connector- they changed the hole in the tranny shell, the connector and some electrical characteristics of the tranny (gov. press. sensor, solenoid type etc)- I'm quite shure you could make an adapter to physically connect the wires and change the sensors etc to match the PCM of your truck. I don't know whether the VB is completely the same but I think it should be adjustable with some springs.
I'd suggest that you try to get a picture of the electrical connectors of both trannies to verify or falsify this for your case.

Im running into this problem now. TB is different from your trans now and the one your putting in. The change occured in 2000. Will have to change at least the sensors in the valce body.

just the internal harness of the valve body. Use your valve body harness and your gov. press. stuff and it will work fine
