Trans Temp Gauge

Just got my Isspro gauges!!! Unfortunately I will not be able to install them for a week or so because of work! I know I will have questions during the install so please bear my ignorance.

To start the questioning, I am not sure about the install of the trans temp sensor. The directions say drain the trans pan, lower the pan and then tap for sensor, replace and refill. Is this the easiest way?? I was thinking it went in one of the trans lines. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks

Best way is to buy an output line for a '95 tranny that has a port in it and trade it for your stock one.

On the drivers side of the trans there is a 1/4'' plug in the case just behind the bell housing, above the pan. All you need is a couple of fittings to make it fit. It seams to give accurate readings. Mine Works Great!!

I was looking through Geno's Garage catalog today and noticed a B&M Drain Plug. The drain plug has a removable plug in the end of it to drain fluid. The ad states you can easily add a temp. sensor in its place. The plug is only $10. How accurate would the readings be and what is everyone's advice on this? Thanks

I think I might have just found my answer! The trans pan will have to be dropped in order to drill a tap for the B&M drain plug.... still not helping me any! Is this correct? I guess I will order the line or try and locate the plug and buy the fittings.

The drain plug is a good idea, but the sender in the pan isn't. Sure it's better than no gauge at all but you are measuring the coolest fluid in the system. Ever think there might be a good reason the stock idiot light sender is in the output flow to the cooler, the hottest fluid in the system?
Easiest doesn't always equate to best.
