trans temp

i got boost, egt, and trans temp guages a week or so ago and installed the boost and egt guages just fine after doing alittle searching and reading, but the more i look on how to install my trans temp guage the more i get confused, i may just be dumb or bad at the search button. i think i have read that there is a port on the trans that i can just screw the sendor in but i dont know now, i think i have also read that i need to put it in the hot line somwhere cause there is no port. im not sure and would like a final answer.

thanks for the help

I put mine in the stock temp sender location as well, in the hard coolant line which should be the hottest location before going to the cooler. This will require installing a resistor into the stock sensor plug. I used a 1k ohm and my temp reads at 131 deg. all the time now. If you don't the pcm won't allow the trans to shift into o.d. or lockup.

Trans cooler line will give you the hottest point, but installing one in your 96 is a bit harder than the previous responses. We don't have a stock sensor port in the line as the 94 & 95 trucks.
You either need to buy the cooler line from Mopar or use an aftermarket splice.
