Trans Question

How do you adjust kick down cable on an 01 CTD? I know how to do it on gas motors but never had to do it on a diesel. If this is out of adjustment would it make shifts from 2nd to 3rd very quick? Anyone know what governer pressures should be on these trucks? ANY HELP would be great. Thanks

It should be just slack at idle, not tight, but start to move when throttle just starts moving

Not really the right way to do it.

The right way to do it is to have another person get in the truck and give it WOT with the engine OFF. While this is being done, slide under the truck on the drivers side and find the TV lever above the gear selector. At WOT there should be between 1/16th to 1/8 of an inch of play at WOT. If there is not, release the acclerator and adjust the cable accordingly to the above measuement. ALL trannies are different so if you tighten the cable and the shifts get to long....back it up a click at a time.

What about the shifting of the trans? 2nd to 3rd is very quick like within a second or two. This did not do this before I put the converter in.

A misadjusted TV cable will cause this symptom.
