I went with the DThuren track bar myself. I'm glad I did. I went through two Napa "lifetime warrantied" track bar replacements in two years. I was tired of replacing them.

The Thuren unit has lasted 3 years so far, no complaints except the adjuster should be more accessable. I hate having to remove the axle end to adjust it. Once it's set though, it's set...
I added a Carli suspension springs approx 2.75inch higher than stock, I already had an adjustable bar, it allowed me to pull the axel back under the truck, they claim it will work fine without an adjustable bar but the axel will be "off centered"
Any movement in the track bar is not good. I put a Luke's Link on mine, about $60. Been on there about a year with no problems. Fixing your track bar will probably cure the slop you have at the steering wheel end. The guy at the alignment shop I take my vehicles to, rebuilds the track bars using Luke's Link. He gives them a lifetime warranty. The only problem I had was that I did not tighten the nut enough. Once he adjusted the nut, my steering has been like new. The more expensive options work too.

some deflection in the steering box and sector shaft can compound the 'loose' feel. check out the dss steering stabilizers, they help firm up the steering.
BTW, I love my Thuren Fab track bar, too!
