Towing power?

I think I posted this in the wrong place previously...

I just bought a '99 3500 4x4 auto, (3.55) to tow my boat. Boat weighs 12,520lbs on a CAT scale.

I completed the installation of gauges this weekend, (I didn't want to post until I new the vital signs were OK). I installed boost, pyro and tranny temp (FP coming). When towing the boat, I'm seeing what looks to be normal boost and pyro temps, (18-19lbs & 1000deg), but not much power at hiway speeds. Getting from 55 to 60 takes forever, more pedal gets nothing.

Is there a module or chip (that doesn't cost a fortune) that will get me a little more power for towing? I'm not hot-rodding this truck, I just use it to drag my boat to the ramp. I really don't want to spend the money for exhaust/intake stuff. I just need a little more oomph in case I need to get around a slower moving vehicle, and to maintain speed on overpasses...

Jim

Ez

Edge EZ is the cheapest easiest and best towing box out there. search classifieds and you will find one cheap. with this box you do not need intake and exhaust although those would probably give you as much as the EZ. at least the exhaust will. this box does timing which will help keep egts low as well.

I have the same rear end as you and bought a Superchips 3705 tuner which has 3 different stages and have been happy pulling my 7700lb camper with it. Night and day difference. What I now do is turn OD off until I hit 2300rpms and then let OD lock in and it will hold 4th locked up till about 1300rpms if I would let it. It pulls hills like a train now and I could not be happier. I paid about $300 (new) for mine from a Ebay store.

The tuner also is a code reader and you can adjust for tire sizes and a couple other things. Some don't like the Superchips but it has proved to me that it's all that I need. Injectors are next, then I'm done.....maybe.

I like my V5, it made a big difference pulling a 10K trailer. Be careful of your stock auto tranny, the cummins ate mine.
