Towing Camshaft ?

Well I will be rebuilding my engine. I use my truck for a living and tow with it almost daily.

Is a cam worth the extra$? I would be after mileage, egts. I really do not need something thats going to wake the engine up over 3,000 rpm.

I have used the search button most threads have situations for drag, pulling, ect, so if anyone can chime in with there experience with a camshaft for towing please let me know Thanks.

Probably wouldn't see enough benefit to justify cost.

I have one in my truck and I'm glad that did. Mine is just a mild PDR camshaft. I installed it about four years ago, myself and its not that hard to do.

The truck even has a smooth idle sound, hard to believe for a 24V VP truck. It reduced egt's and improved spool-up.

I think diesel power or some one did an install of a towing cam. They seemed to like it. I have been tossing around the idea myself.

If you've got it apart go for it! It will be much more difficult when everything is back together.
