Question Towing Build Questions

I got the wife's approval to do a mild build on our truck. We tow a 4-horse gooseneck; I want to build it to tow a little better while maintaining rock-solid reliability. I currently have a Superchips D-Box (Edge EZ in disguise). Heavy on the gas, I can hit 1250 EGTS on steep grades. Here's my plan:

Use Geno's FP relocation kit
Rebuilding the tranny (TC and valve body) via Goerend
RV275 Injectors
J-Hook Turbo
Drop-In Filter (recommendations?)
Maybe 3.73 gears - 3.55 is too high IMO

I'm on the fence concerning exhaust/intakes. I've heard that the stock exhaust is sufficient, and a drop-in filter will give me as much benefit as a cold-air system at this power level. I'd really like to keep the EGTs down (wife sometimes forgets to ease off with high EGTS), but don't want to spend a bunch of money if I don't have to. Would it be worthwhile to do the power upgrades first, see how the EGTs work out, and add an intake and exhaust if necessary?

Look at the Vulcan LP relocation kit. Very nice & complete.
Get a new Exhaust 4" and a new Air intake. Stay away from K&N on these trucks. BHAF works good and is cheap. Look in the Tech section for part numbers.

I would go with a set of Rv275 injectors ( new set can be had for under $300)
and wouldn't go any bigger if you want to stay cool

4" exhaust and maybe a 14cm exhaust housing ,depending on your temps.

I don't know if I would touch the transmission unless its giving you problems other than PM stuff. The transmission is definitly a good idea, but it will be more costly than a turbo.

and do something to the fuel system, for sure a guage.

What's the benefit of the exhaust and exhaust housing (other than sound)?

As for the tranny, I hate the way it runs right now, and have gotten a quote of $2200 from Goerend for a rebuild with a TC, valve body, and a few other small upgrades. Seems general consensus is that the tranny isn't any good beyond a basic chip. I'm inclined to agree, because with just the chip it seems like it's stretching it's abilities.

new axles will be costly, I know i have to switch back to the stock tire size when I pull hay back from missouri. find a smaller tire for towing will really help.

So for a minute let's pretend I could talk the wife into a new turbo...

For a Piers HX35, an AFE stage 1, a 4" exhaust, and my chip, how big could I go on the injectors? Keep in mind that this is for towing, so I want to be able to put the pedal to the floor and leave it there for as long as it takes. Also, what kind of power could I expect out of that setup?
