1992 build questions

This is my daily driver and i want some input on what im doing so advice is needed. So far its stock besides a Denny T stage 2 fuel pin. The plans are New Era 370s, 3200rpm spring, Hx40, 4 in exhaust, full power screw, Bhaf, Cooltubz, and New lift pump with Holley Bllue or black fuel pump. I have boost and pyromiter gauges already. Im getting fuel and transtemp before i start anything. My questions are will i have enough fuel to run the hx40 or should i run a different turbo? I dont want to worry about egts. Open to all suggestions. Thanks

You will definately have enough fuel to spool the HX-40. They share shafts with the HX-35 and if you bark the turbo, the shaft will break. If I were you, I would look for an S300, probably a 62/71/14. They are expensive, but worth it, in myopinion.

What tranny is in the truck?

All that power won't be any good through a stock 518 torque converter.

x2, i would go with a s300 before the hx-40. If money is a concern then just hybrid your current turbo untill you got the $$$ for the s300

It would be a lot more power than stock.

His original post didn't say anything about the tranny, thats why I didn't address that. I agree, he will definately need a better converter, as do all Dodge trucks from the factory...

Any particular reason? They are pretty doggy from the factory, but if you rebuild it, and throw an aftermarket converter on it, it is a very reliable, and useable tranny.

I know you love the 727, but a 518 can be built to be better than a 727. The only difference from factory is the converter. There is a reason a lot of guys swap from the 727 to the 518.

You'll pick up a ton of power even with the A518. You might save your money on the Holley LP and get a second gen piston LP and a regulator instead. You'll be a lot happier. I have a Holley and noticed a difference (gain) in performance when I installed my Piston LP.

You'll have enough fuel with a bit of pump tuning but like said before the trans is the "weak" link. I would defiantly throw a converter in it and a shift kit and you should be ok.

Yea i was planning on the torque converter because it tends to slip when i get on it from a start and it goes in and out of 2nd, and when i cruise around 50 it falls out of 4th until i pick it back up. What kind of troque convertor are u guys running? I was also looking into the piston lift pump and they say use the ag lift pump. Is this time consuming and what would the total cost be around? Also where could i find the parts for the hybrid hic? Thanks for all the help!

Goerend transmissions and converters, is the best IMHO , my dad has one in his 2005 and its sweeeet.

plus Dave Goerend's service is the greatest.

www.goerend.com You'll have to call the number and talk to him becuase the prices are'nt listed on the website,. tell him what you do with the truck and stuff and he'll tell you what you need.

I agree, I haven't heard one bad thing about Dave Goerend, or his products. Some other options are DTT, Suncoast or Hughes for converters.

If it was me, I would go with Goerend, but his stuff is a little expensive.
