took first trip with ez installed... WOW!

just came back from the coast after the first long trip with the trailer after installing my ez and 4" exhaust. (had a comp, but had problems.. long story). all i can say is it is definately worth it!! coming back from the coast there is a 7-8% (varies) grade that is about 4 miles long. i used to be in 2nd gear wound out to keep 55 mph. now i was in 3rd and accelerating to the point i had to back off due to cars i was catching. my trailer weighs about 9000#'s give/take a few hundred. i now have a slight shutter when it shifts from 3rd to o.d. and is loaded. think that may be the tranny screaming "STOP IT". anyway just thought i'd throw my experience out there for anyone considering the purchase.

Thanks for the report. I haven't had a trailer hooked up since I installed the EZ. I'm lookin' forward to it though!

Re:took first trip with ez installed... WOW!

I was hoping to install my edge ez yesterday, but the map sensor plug on the edge was different than the one on my truck. Called Edge, and they said I needed an adaptor for $20. I wish I would have known that when I ordered it, would have saved me a week of having to look at my edge ez sitting on the table. Anyone else had this problem?

I got it from premier performance. When I ordered it, I put down 2002, but the box says 2001 on it. I was never asked if I wanted an adaptor or not. This would explain the difference in plugs, but is the adaptor necessary for 2002's, or do they make a edge ez with the 2002 map sensor plug on it?

Re:took first trip with ez installed... WOW!

You're probably right because when I talked to Edge, they knew that I needed a adaptor when I told him I had a 2002 truck, and hadn't told them anything else. $20 sounded pretty cheap to me considering that it'll take a male and female map connector for 2001 and a male and female for 2002 to make the adaptor and those connectors aren't cheap. Just wish I would have know that before so I could be enjoying the power now instread of maybe friday. Thanks for the Info.

Installed mine several months ago and absolutely love it. Looking at bigger injectors but that will require another clutch and on and on. The BOMB bug is alive.

Re:took first trip with ez installed... WOW!

Just looked at www.citydiesel.net. They've got 2001 and 2002 edge ez's, so they did make one for 2002. They've also got the 2001-2002 adapter for $7. Guess I should have looked there first

Re:took first trip with ez installed... WOW!

the short version of the long story is that i went through 2 comp's after getting the right one. they all flagged the ck engine light and i heard this is very common for 2002 models for some reason. i finally decided on an ez and am very happy with my decision. i will probably upgrade the tranny before adding anymore power though as it is already shuddering (not bad at all though). i bought mine through www.sourceautomotive.biz rip is a very very customer freindly guy and went out of his way to make sure edge didnt screw up again like they did the first time. when i still had problems with the comp after that, he made sure i was ok with my decision to go with an ez and made me feel like i was the only customer. he did this even before i had purchased anything through him when i wasn't even a customer.

Re:took first trip with ez installed... WOW!

Eric,

I hope you didn't buy the adaptor plug yet. You ordered the EZ through my site and Premier Performance shipped it. I don't know if the mistake was made on my side or theirs to be honest, but I do have a order for a 2002 EZ, not a 2001. I left you a message so I hope you call me back, and we can straighten this out.

If you're willing, what I'd like to do is a call tag and ship you a new one in return for the one you have now. By doing this, you pay nothing for a new adaptor plug. Either way, message me, or call me back and we can go from there. Sorry about the confusion, but I'll make sure you get the right product in hand, even though it may be a little late.

Jack
