timing advance, how long?

timing advance, how long?

How long should it take to advance the timing on my 94 12v. Which sound more reasonable 30-45 min or 2-3 hrs? Thanks no sig yet, newbie. Mine '94 reg cab 12v auto, Her's 01 swb ext cab auto. May the fun begin!!

Welcome to DTR!.......A pro should be able to check and advance the timing in a little over an hour.......

Yup, you should be able to.........or if you are handy you can grind your stocker and block your wastegate - but only after you get a boost and egt gauge!.........I suggest grinding your plate to a #100 profile.........you should be able to do a search and find some pics of that plate...........I think gunracer has a pic of one in his gallery......

it takes more time to find tdc than it does to time it. once the balancer is marked with true tdc it takes 20 minutes or so to time it. then spin it back and double check the timing. but if it slips after you run it you need to pull it back down and reset it again. i have only had it slip once out of 20 or so trucks i have timed.
