time for a new exhaust

any recomendations? going turbo back most likely. truck is bone stock but i have a pretty bad exhaust leak right now so i figured might as well go for a new exhaust system.

is it bad for the engine/turbo to run with a leaky exhaust. im mostly familiar with gasoline engines.

I just bought a Monster Exhaust/ air filter for my 02 from Banks and I am quite satisfied. I didn't want an exhaust that over the long run is loud and anoying. Banks hit the mark with there Monster exhaust and Power Elbow. Simple afternoon project that looks and sounds great. Throttle response is better as well.

Leaky exhaust won't do anything bad for the engine.

my dad just came back from a hunting trip in thunderbay with my truck. and i was thinking to myself it does sound a lot louder. just took a closer look and the pipe broke off right before the muffler. looks like tommorow im just going to pull the muffler and tail pipe portion off so its still drivable cause its just touching the driveshaft. although my neighbours didn't like the truck before. now they for sure hate me.

This is my 5" MBRP I have put on about 10 4" kits and this 5" and i realy like my 5" straight pipe but the 4" with muffler sound good too. This is 5" vs. stock. MBRP is a realy good kit and I always get the aluminized. In the Pick you can see the muffler and those are 33x12.50 BFG MT's just for scale.

I don't have the full MBRP 5" kit, just the 4" downpipe and 34" of 5" straight pipe along with some hangers and stuff... its good stuff, fits really nice.

If you are on a budget check out some of Rip Rooks stuff, I've heard he makes really good stuff as well, I think his web site is http://sourceautomotive.biz.

I've got a 52" 4" commercial truck muffler and the sound is quiet but nice.

I like my 4" Silverline 304 Stainless Steel turboback. It comes with a lifetime warranty and was cheaper than the MBRP or Magnaflow 304 turbobacks. I bought it from xtremediesel.com, they have great prices and service. They also have all of there exhausts on sale.
Stick with a 4", you only need a 5" if you want to be cool or have twins or have over 600-700hp.
Heck, most of the high HP diesels still run 4".

well got a good look at today on the hoist at worked. used some mechanics wire to hold it in place. i mean it sounded amazing with out the muffler and the turbo spool sounded sick. but for day to day and the weird looks i was getting i can't leave it like that.

i think im going to go with the mbrp exhaust. just go resonator back because the rest of the exhaust is solid by the looks of it. just the muffler and tail pipe are on the way out. thanks for the suggestions !!

Go turbo back. Dont try and mess around with piecing one together. Do an mbrp or a flow pro they both go on really easy and sound awesome
