Smarty Updates

For those who have "updated" their Smarty. Do you
like the new programs over the old one. Is the low
boost smoke reduced and is the the power more linear ?

The only update I'm aware of is the Speed limiter eliminator. Is there more?

The speed limiter is useless to me...

It reduced smoke for me - a LOT. It's much better.

I also think the power is more linear, as it's a bit easier to drive.. However, I didn't have the smarty that long prior to the upgrade so my butOmeter may be off.

I really wish they would publish 'release notes' so we know all of the changes.

overall, I'm not looking to go back to the old software.

I would like to know more about the updates also. I have one of the first one's and like it the way it is so far. Think there could be more power there.

I don't think you will EVER see release notes about the Smarty because that would admit they had to update their software to fix 'issues' instead of just adding features like the top MPH limit change. Do you really think Marco will ever publish negative things about his Smarty like having to fix the cruise control surging? Did this ever get addressed?

The new software is more linear on #9 than the old 1/4 pedal touchy version and with mine, less smoke on takeoff. It doesn't have the surge of power it did before, but the surge of smoke is not there either.

The part that bugs me is you cannot download the old software if you wanted to. I liked the old software better but like the linear throttle on the new version. It would be great to get the old version with a much more linear go pedal on #9. The new version feels a bit down on power to me, but I haven't dynoed either tune to say for sure.

I agree with you and I wish they would get over the ego, and just tell us whats going on. It's software, **** happens. We all know about the problems...

Phil - I have the old software if you want it.

I tried the speed limiter and it worked great. As soon as I got a little time in with the updated software I noticed more power in the mid rpms and less smoke down low. What I didn't like is I'd use a certain amount of throttle, it'd rev to a certain rpm then stop. I'd give her a little more and rpms again would rise then stop. I went back to an older sw and I'll just run this until they come out with a the 4000 rpm tune =P

Can one of the Smarty "insiders" chime in and
let us know if more updates are in the works
or is the one update is all there is going to be.
If no other updates are coming, then I'll
update my Smarty tomorrow.

"Updates are coming", says Bob Wagner over and over on TDR, but when could be tomorrow or 2010.

When a friend asked me what to buy for his 02, I told him to get an XZT+. He did.

Just keep each version in a dated folder as you down load it through time. I did. If you'd like a copy of any software version back to the original CaTCHer software, shoot me an e-mail addy.
