Smarty and Torque Management

If I was to borrow a smarty, and use it for the purpose for getting rid of torque management, would that stay with the truck when I unload the smarty?

If so anybody in western MA have a Smarty they wanna stop by with?

No the torque management would come back. The other problem will be that once you install the smarty, you won't want to give it back...

That's what I thought. See, I have the adrenaline and it's got plenty of power. Just the torque management sucks. I don't really feel like loosing the cluster with the BD products either. Think a dealer can reflash without torque management?

Realistically the only options on a 2nd gen are the BD RAD, or the Smarty. The BD RAD probably does a better job of eliminating the torque management, but the side effects (gauges not working), are probably only tolerable at the track (at least to me). The difference in the eliminating of the torque management, between the Smarty and the RAD are probably only noticable at the track. For most people $ to $ the Smarty is the better buy. If you are looking for the best at the track, get them both.

Nope, it just extends the defuel point from ~2700 to ~3200 rpm. Big improvement, but it doesn't help with the torque management.

BTW, I have a edge drag comp too...

defeating it can cause a lot of other issues, more smoke, that can be hard to control, and bangin shifts.......... I just switched my tm to 3, had it on 4 since revo came out. Haven't driven it yet, but will report back if I have troubles.

Could someone explain what exactly this torque management feature is and what it is that I'm missing out on? My impulsiveness tells me I need to stack my Juice with a Smarty. Is it similar to a TC lockup switch?

The nice thing about the new Revo, is that everyone can have their favorite!

The only reason I like the 4 over the 3 is that cruising around the shifts happen a little sooner (less throttle position).

The torque management settings in the Smarty seem to equally defeat the torque management in the ECM. The settings in the Smarty seem to change the throttle sensitivity. Changing from tm 3 to tm 4 nets the same 60' on my truck. If the settings changed how much it defeats the factory torque management, it should have changed the 60'.

I have a manual transmission, but changing TM seems to have almost no effect on smoke. It does compress the throttle peddle and makes time between shifts quicker. For me TM effect is extremely noticeable SOP, much more so than timing or duration.

I get the concept of TM for protecting driveline parts, but I don't get what is actually is occuring. If we say that engine power is controlled, excluding air, by timing and fueling. Then TM is a combonation of those two right?

What exactly is TM managing besided fuel and timing?

And I guess why wouldn't the direct Smarty tuning for timing and duration simply do the same thing as TM?

And more guessing is that a higher Smarty TM number more closely approaches the actual "naked" or unlimited power curve of the Cummins?
