Question Smarty Settings???

What is the best setting to run on a bone stock 01 5 speed. Even numbers or odd numbers?

That kinda depends on what you're doing with the truck and what actually works. Some people report that the settings with timing rattle too much, especially in the mornings when the engine is cold. You just have to do a little trial and error tuning to see whats best for you.

He's keeping it bone stock but loves to drive the truck hard. No towing. I'm just letting him borrow mine to show him the difference and he loves how mine smokes when I rev it up in neutral. So even setting will yeild the most performance?

I would think then find where the clutch slips and back it down 1, then try it with and without timing on that setting.

all depends. most people DYNO higher hp with sw3 but thats with the TST stack. as far as a bone stock truck, program 9 should be the best. catcher with timing. thats the one he would want to use.

I run mine on #9, and except for the exhaust and intake I'm stock and my clutch has yet to slip.

I'd run the odd settings. The timing helps with the EGT's. He shouldn't get any timing rattle on the odd settings. I don't think it advances it that far.

I don't know why you wouldn't want the timing advance of the odd numbers with a stock truck. Run it on 5, 7, or 9, or 9, or maybe...9

Run it on 9 unless he thinks the throttle's to touchy then go with 7 or 5

I'm just running #5 and not using the comp box. Less smoke and lots less power. I've been throwing around the idea putting my comp box work at boost pressure above 15psi. The smarty works very good on the bottom-end(catcher thingy, it wakes up the turbo) and comp/drag box for all out killing ford stuff us cummin guys luv to do. The timing thing doesn't work to well in my truck. It just smokes and the power curve is so worse than the comp box. If you want to wake that 01 HO truck up put in a SO VP and a drag box. You would pick-up 40-60rwhp with no draw backs.

SW9! Is there another setting?? Sw3 isn't bad either especially if you like to floor it. Try any setting then try sw9 and you'll be hooked

My truck is a dog without it. I'm just letting him try it. He's hooked and won't give it back.!!
