Life is good when Smarty is under the hood.

Marcos & Bob are top notch. Buy a Smarty with confidence, they will take care of you if you need help.
So what turned out to be the problem?

My truck was built late 98, and the ECM version was "unrecognized". It is a "safety" feature built into the Smarty software as to not cause a problem with the stock ECM until the software is version is known. Marcos found out what the version was added it to the Smarty list of approved software. A very fast and simple fix, and ZERO down time for my truck.

Hopefully, Bob will help explain it better, but I think I'm close.

In any event, the Smarty works great now!

Buy with confidence, these guys are on the cutting edge of making our trucks RUN strong!

Does anyone have or know what is a good tow number with the Smarty stock? I thought I read it has a tow haul mode but can't find that info. We have a ~7k TT we tow through the Rocky Mountains and would like more power.

Anything above sw1 should be fine. Beyond that it is just a matter of how fast and hard the power comes on in regards to throttle input and I've read posts where people have towed with the top setting sw9

I've scheduled time tomorrow for a call to Goerends, then I'll be calling Bob.

(might even have him slip a set of Don M's injectors into the box )

Smoke is rolling off my pants right now, that Tax Refund burning a hole in my pocket.

Sounds like that isn't the only place you will have smoke rolling from

(DonM's 1.6's are next on my list )

My truck is essentially stock (no power mods but the EZ, stock exhaust and intake), and I was blown away by #9. I can't even imagine what it'd be like adding a serious fueling box and big injectors.

I'm a very conservative mod'er; I've only changed things that I felt were really wrong from the factory. The Smarty makes the factory fuel map seem as wrong anything that ever was wrong...

Good to hear! You're a good guy Geico266. You stuck with the problem till it was fixed, even if it wasn't the easiest thing to do at the time.

Try some Mach 4s. They get along with Smarty quite well.

Then, if you are feeling ambitious, add a TST box

Smarty with stock injectors cannot hurt your truck through overboosting. There's just not enough fuel to really hurt anything.

I'd still recommend gauges, but you could probably get by without boost and pyro. Still need FP.

In my case, I'm WAY overfueled for what I should have, so a pyro is a MUST HAVE. I could melt my engine without it if I was ignorant and foolish. I mean, MORE ignorant and foolish
