Smarty / Code Reader wont link to truck

This problem began after a night of drag racing when I set off the 0500 code. Not sure on the number but I am pretty sure It was the speed sensor malfunction code. It was triggered just After I went through the traps, the truck was going between 105 and 110, closer to 110. It also tripped the Check engine light. I tried to hook up my code reader and it showed "ERROR" so then I figured I would try the expensive code reader, smarty, and that would not connect either, just kept telling me to turn key on, turn key off. So I was worried at this point so I did the 3 key cycle trick and pulled the codes this way, this is how I know it was the 0500 or whichever code is speed sensor malfunction. I thought maybe resetting the codes by taking the battery off would help the situation so I did that and it cleared the CEL and the codes but smarty or the code reader still will not link. Cant even get the smarty to load a different tune or read codes, nothing. I tried asking Bob through pm, but its been over a week with not even an I cant help, so I am just going to assume he didnt see it.

Can anyone shed some light on my situation, anyone have this happen before? Truck runs fine and I know Smarty #8 is still loaded in the truck because my turbo wont spool without it. So I know its in there, it just wont read my truck anymore.

Any help is really appreciated!

Try calling Bob directly. He normally will return your call within 24 hrs. He's swamped with pm's and e-mails.

Thanks Bob, is there any easy way to fix it? do i need new parts or is it something you would have to do with programming? Like, would I have to send in the smarty? Because my normal code reader does it also? Weird...

you need to check either the wiring to your obd port or the plug connection between the smarty.

try some dialectric grease.

Alright sounds good. Would this also explain the regular code reader not working? So it would probably be the port and not smarty right?
Again I appreciate you helpin me,

Bob,
Your the MAN! 5 minutes and I'm good to go. Not sure if it was pushing on the OBD 2 port wires or the dielectric grease (pretty sure it was the grease) but shes working great again, both smarty and my code reader. Should of known it was the connection but I tried both of them so many times I thought the wiggling in and out would have helped the connection but I guess thats why we have experts like you.
Thanks again!

Oh quick question, will the 24v REVO do 4000 RPMS like the CR? Any expected release date? Eagerly waiting!

Even though its fixed...

Just In case anyone else has this problem....No I couldnt change anything, would not even link, and by code reader I mean a totally separate code reader not the smarty code reader feature. Neither of them would "communicate".

The other weird thing was that both of them were fine the day before the drags because I was changing programs. The next day, no worky. So i figured it must have been related to the engine code that happened that night. Just goes to show you that electronic connections can be finicky I suppose.

If you have this problem try the dielectric grease that Bob recommended its probably that!
