Small Schwitzer versus Dodgezilla

I bought a small Schwitzer a while back. It has a small compressor side(56 or 58). How do these compare to the 35/40 hybrids? I have a Dodgezilla/14 in my twin setup now and am wondering if it would be a waste of time or not to build a new hot pipe and try the Schwitzer.

21 psi will support 350hp with a clean tailpipe, so I'd say that the smallish compressor isn't that big a deal.

IMHO, the turbine side is what needs attention on these trucks. If the Schwitzer has a better turbine side (more efficient, less back pressure) then I would expect it to outperform a Holset hybrid.

I guess there are not many who have tried these small S300 based turbos. Probably a good reason . I'll try something else.

I'd call HT Turbo and ask them...they do both Holsets and Schwitzers, so I think they could help!

It has much more lag then a Hybrid.

It surges while towing if you are not running enough filter. The comp wheel has to be sized perfectly for the altitude/power level or it will surge.

This one has a 65 mm wheel, and a 14.77 dual port w/g housing.

Roman (RDLeader) is using one in a staged setup.

The compressor wheel on this one is 56mm. That's almost as small as a stock hx35.

Justin,

My B1 surges BAD when towing below 2000 (which is where the truck runs most of the time), so are you saying thet I don't have enough filter??

Could you explain more, possibly??

Thanks,
Chris

I built the above turbo for a friend. He is running a drag comp/superchip tuner stack along with a set of jammer 5's that flowed 55 lpm. (Regular jammer 5 flow 45-47)

When he was right at 1700 rpm's empty he could get it to surge. When towing it was even worse.

We changed the wheel from a 66 to a 65 and crap canned his super restrictive, very small filter. (He was running something that flowed less then a k&n in a stock air box.

After we did that the surge was almost nonexistent.

I see you are running a scotty with a hole. I would say you have plenty of filter. I am unsure as to what the B series turbos uses for wheels.

People dont just run the S-300's right out of the box from switzer, they always modify them with different wheels and housings because they surge in stock form. You want at least a 62MM Wheel. or dont bother with it.

Cool, must just be more air going in than exhaust coming out at those RPM...either that, or I don't have a clue

Thanks,
Chris
