Schwitzer turbo.

OK I found a guy who has a Schwitzer turbo off a bigger cummins, it's used, of course, but there's no play in the turbine shaft, and he swears it's as close to a ht3b you can get without being one. It actually looks almost identical to any I've seen, but it says Schwitzer on the compressor housing. Model # is 4LHR-753. Anyone know anything about this turbo? I have yet to try to find any info online about it, but will and will update if I do. I already have an HX40 and I figure if it's close to a ht3b I can have a poor mans twin setup I can weld alright lol. He only wants 150 bucks for it, so it's almost worth a try anyways, if it doesn't work well I can put it back to what it is now pretty easily. I dunno maybe I'm just crazy any info's appriciated.

Hale do you know if it's worth the 100 bucks? Seems like a cheap alternative to the HT3B. I'm not looking for competition or anything, I pull once in awhile, but other than that I just use my truck as a DD and tow maybe 5-6k once in awhile, very rarely though. If I could make a cheap twin set to lower egt's and get rid of some of that lag, it'd be great.

1. Make sure the shaft has no play in it. To properly measure the movement, you'll need access to both sides of the shaft and *gently* move both wheels at the same time in the same direction. I believe the max allowable play is .003 around and less in and out.

2. In theory, twins could only spool as fast as their smallest charger would normally spool. In my 40/B2 setup, twins take a little bit of getting used to daily driving. It takes some finesse of the throttle to not smoke while getting up to speed.
