Skyjacker coil springs...stout enough???

Hi all,

Need lots of opinions on Skyjacker D25 front coil springs. I noticed they are advertised as "soft ride." I am trying to level out Besse in the front by gaining lift another 2" and was told by someone from a suspension place that they are not as stout as the factory springs. I have GVW of 8800lbs and I have a heavy Ranchhand bumper/grillguard on the front. I am looking at buying the springs and Bilstein shocks, but now I am concerned they may not be enough. If they are not as stout as the factory where can I buy some to replace the old ones? I cannot seem to find anything on the net. I don't do any off roading other than out in pastures hauling hay and ranch work.

Most people get 2 1/2 inches out of the D25 springs.
They will do better for you than the 2 inch spacer leveling kit.

It all depends on which factory springs your truck came with.
There are 6 different springs which came with the Diesel engines.
Usually a mixture of 2 of them, heavier one on the driver/fuel tank side, lighter one on the passenger side.

If they don't lift as much as you thought they would,
there are 1", 2", and 3" spacers you can add to them to get it to where you want
Anything more than the 1" spacer on top of the D25's and you'll need to get longer control arms, and extend the trac-bar to get your axle back where it belongs.


Whatever Skyjacker springs my 4.5" lift came with, they are quite stout, too stout sometimes.
My front end feels like it's bolted directly to the axle when I hit a bump.
I'm hoping my winch, along with my bumper will soften them up a bit.

D25's are stout.

Check my sig. Springs I got are great, and couple that with the Class II version (dual shocks each front wheel), and I got the ride I wanted. Will say that it can rattle your teeth if you hit a pothole on the highway. Also, the kit leveled me out perfectly. Looks sharp too!

Friend of mine is wanting to level his truck out as well, and I suggested a Skyjacker 2.5" Standard (no flex) Class II. I think with the bumper you have this might work out nicely for you as well.

You need to make a decision of what is right for you. I have read were many have gone with the Skyjacker springs and loved them, some didn't. Others have taken the spacer route, weather it be ploy spacer (I chose this one), metal spacer, or hard rubber. The guys that went this way say the same thing, most like it, a few don't. I can not tell you which way is best, you have your own set of needs, and I have only tried the ploy spacer. For me it worked great, I have my lift and the factory ride. I have the D25s. They are VERY stout. The ride on the highway is maybe a hair stiffer, but more damped. It's a kind of Mercedes-like sitffness: damped but taut.

The biggest difference is off-road. It's easily a 100% improvement off-road. It won't help you on the washboard, but over large bumps and boulders they shine. Good control, tough to bottom out (haven't done it yet).

I jsut wish I wouldn't have DIYed this install. I have had an annoying cab resonance since I did the install, and it's not in the driveline. It's more like a dropped tool kind of problem (lost a socket doing it).

I'll track it down this summer. Too cold to work on it now.
