Scotty 2?

For those of you with a Scotty 2 on your second gen, how did you attach the intake hose to the filter? I slipped the support tube inside the filter end, but it was way too small to clamp the hose onto the support tube, so I slipped the hose over the lip of the filter. So I had the support tube on the inside, with the filter lip around that, and then the intake hose over that, with a clamp holding it all together. Is this right?

Yes that sounds right. The stiffening ring goes into the filter flush with the end and the intake hose goes over the filter end. The ring is there to keep the filter end round when you clamp it down.

You'll love it!!!! Go for the cowl hole too, worth the install time for sure.

That's the problem - the tube, when stuck as far into the filter as it will go, is not even close to flush with the filter. Half of the length is still sticking out, which got me thinking that I might not have it in there right. Also, the included hose clamp is not even used, the way I have it attached now.
I did install it with the hole and love the turbo whine and the coooooooooool air .

If by tube, you mean the reinforcing ring....it should slide in so the end is flush with the rubber sleeve on the open end of the filter! Mine did.

Just need one clamp to tighten the intake hose to this open end on the filter...with the ring inside!

Did the open end of your filter have a groove for a hose clamp? Right now, my reinforcing ring only slides about half of its length into the filter before the ID of the filter shrinks and the ring won't go any farther in. The reinforcement ring I got was about 4-5" long - I wonder if I got the wrong version? I'll have to check with Scotty...
By the way, with the Scotty 2, how much louder is JR's 55 vs a stock turbo? Thanks.

Working from memory, I only remember the ring being about 2" long! Same length as rubber sleeve on filter end. Did you see the picture I added after posting?

JR's 'Lil' 55 is very quiet...compared to the KSB-1 I had before .....and is unbarkable! I was surprised...expected it to be louder. It's quieter at 45 psi boost, than HX-35's I ridden in, that had Scotty II's. Maybe it's just a deeper, less irritating pitch. Really an amazing turbo!

Only one version I know of. Sounds like you got one that should have been cut in half?
Should not be a problem....just be sure to slide intake hose over filter end...as you described...before clamping down.
Good luck!

I wish someone would let me know when theres a concern.
LOL
The newest batch of intakes went out with longer couplers.
The coupler will slide inside your turbo inlet hose. The turbo inlet hose slides over the red filter flange and the clamp that came with the filter is not used.
You use the turbo inlet hose clamp to fasten onto the red filter flange. You may need to moisten or even use a small bit of the oil off the filter on the inside of the turbo inlet hose and on the filter flange for it to slide on without forcing it too much. You should be able to get the turbo inlet hose to slide all the way up to the edge of the filter where it gets larger for the filter media.

Let me know if this makes sense.

I had some feedback that the reinforcing coupler was sometimes too short.
Therefore I tried a full piece instead of cutting it and it worked fine.

Did your coupler slide down a bit into the turbo inlet hose when you slid it over? About 2.0" of it would.

The original couplers where 1-3/8" for the UNI filter. They are now 3-3/8"
