I know thats a custom piece.

I thought oil-burner on comp. diesel was having problems getting that housing to fit in the truck. Said he couldnt clock the housing enough?
The diameter of the race cover is bigger then a standard and it hit Rips primary bracket he was trying to use, so he's gonna put a 1/4" spacer inbetween the turbo and the oil drain it mounts to.

My local shop told me that the old style K-31 (non billet impeller) are prone to impeller failure (torn blades). The fix is a billet impeller. Of course my K-31 has non billet design. I wonder if this applies to the Garrett 42 series?

I'd bet it MAY apply to the older T-series turbos, but I doubt the GT series has the same problems..

just a guess.

Do you guys think that the new turbonetic turbine design actually collects more energy than the standard turbine design? The turbonetic turbine is shaped like a wheel/fan vs the standard looking turbine blading. I bet that it isn't that much more effective than standard. I'm thinking if it is, it would make for a killer primary turbo, it has the ball bearing, and it has the air flow.

The T-netics BB chargers don't spool as fast as the Garretts because they are not DUAL BB. Because one bearing is still journal bearing, you still have full oil flow and hence viscous drag.

You got have the oil restriction to see the big spoolup gains.

The t-netics chargers ARE tough, though. Look at that warranty. Who else stands behind a turbo like that? Three years of coverage is the best I am aware of in the aftermarket turbo industry.

Just looking at the broucher, turbonetics builds their impellers and turbine differently than garrett. I think that the double ball bearings garretts would be faster spooling turbo, but the design for the impellers/turbines looks like they could be onto something. They don't sell a liquid cooled bearing housing.
