i've been doing some research and these two intakes seem to be the two most popular ones, and of course the BHAF.. but i was wondering which one is gives off the most wine.. ive heard the AFE is pretty loud but i havent heard much about the S & B.. just that its about 150 dollars cheaper?

i like noise, so im basically just wondering if the S & B gives off a noticeabley louder whine..but then again hp and torque are obviously a factor, after all i do have a cummins.

ps. i have a 01 2500 24 valve.

 

I have a BHAF with a S&B filter on my 98 and its really loud. I have heard that the AFE's are a little louder on the 3rd gen's but I have a S&B CAI on my 03 and you can hear it fine but its not nearly as loud as my 98. Of course its not right by the firewall either.

 

Personally I like the S&B due to its filtering &flow capabilities. That being said, the turbo noise is pretty decent...

 

I know im a 3rd genner, but S&B gets my vote, for the money i dont think it can be beat! I know i love mine, money well spent!!

 

I have a BHAF with a K&N RC-4780 filter and it is LOUD. The 'ol lady thinks it's obnoxious, makes me like it even more!!! The filter has a mounting stud too so you can make a little bracket and secure it in place. After tax I gave 52 bucks for mine, good luck!

 

as far as i can tell the more open the box is the louder it will be but if its too open u run the chance of the engine bringing in hot air from the engine instead of the cold air from fender

 

I'd say your right but on a 2nd gen it doesn't make that much difference since there is no IAT sensor pulling back fuel. It sure beats buying a $450 AFE kit. Just my $.02.
