Running Boards

anyone know of any tricks, shortcuts, timesavers ect. when installing. I almost finished the drivers side last night. Their 2 piece diamond tread for a club cab long bed 4x4. Thanks I'll check for your tips when I get back from Sac. tonight.

Re:Running Boards

When I installed mine back in '96, the shop that sold them to me told me to paint the metal after I drill and then put a dab of silicone in the hole. You want to keep any moisture away from the metal. So far not one spec of rust. And they sand/salt the cra* out of the roads in the winter around here.

Re:Running Boards

There's no easy way to do them! I just installed the Deflecta Shield models on mine and it looks great but what a pain in the butt!! I just had to disregard the instructions because they were so screwed up! I'm thinking about writing them a letter due to my dissatisfaction with the instructions! >

Re:Running Boards

Had some on a chevy. Lesson learned nothing on a truck is straight or even. Re-enforce all of it. Sometimes sea donkeys want to stand on them and put them on the pavement. You have to love the wifes corn fed relatives. The next time around I went Westin step bars.

Re:Running Boards

Personally I prefer nerf bars to running boards...I think they look better and are much sturdier than boards and they don't make the truck look like it is sitting any lower than it should.

Thats just me though

Re:Running Boards

Well, to each his own. I prefer the running boards. They keep so much cra* off the sides of the truck. As to installation, I probably had the easiest installation. The place I bought them, installed them for very little since it was package deal along with the line-x installation. I just had to be without my truck for two days :'( :'(.
