Re:RUNNING BOARDS OR NURF BARS

I'm having the Mopar molded running boards installed on mine by the dealer. I should be able to post pictures by mid next week. Keep an eye out for them.

If you are looking for genuine Dodge running boards, try Mopar4less.com. I had the slotted aluminum boards installed and they look great and fit is excellent.

I like the look of nerf bars but wanted something wider. The Mopar side steps were perfect.

When you spec out a truck from the Dodge web site one of the last steps is selecting accesories. Go through all the choices and you will find lots of options that may give you some ideas. You can also get a Mopar Accesories Catalog from you dealer.

Re:RUNNING BOARDS OR NURF BARS

I think the nerf bars offer more protection than the running boards.

Especially from door dings, people are less likely to swing their door open into a sturdy steel nerf bar than they are a pretty running board.

That is where I bought mine. You can have them shipped directly to you for a reasonable charge. Give John or Greg a call there.

Casey

Re:RUNNING BOARDS OR NURF BARS

phox mulder,

I agree that nerf bars are stronger than running boards but my experience with running boards is that when used with mud flaps they offer excellent protection from stone chips and road debris. After eight years with this combination my Yukon lower panels were in excellent condition. I don't think this would have been the same without the running boards or anything else that doesn't offer as much protection. Nerf bars have a lot of open area that would allow stone and what not to get through to the truck. Nothing wrong with nerf bars, just another point of view.

I think it is NERF, not NURF, but tell me what does NERF stand for anyway?

Re:RUNNING BOARDS OR NURF BARS

I believe the word "Nerf" is racing slang meaning to bump another vehicle with your own. Nerf bars are typically "bumper-ettes" that are mounted on the front, rear and sides of the old fashion Indy cars and midget racers, and are not intended to aid entry to a vehicle. But I guess step bars look similar so that's probably how they got their name. I guess I'm just a font of useless information. :
