I've seen some posts on this site where misguided members say "DON"T replace factory bumper because you will be more likely to have frame damage with a stouter bumper".

But I with you 'catnfool'!
Around town and under say 30 mph.... either will do fine. But on straight western roads, with high speed limits, and lots of wildlife..... I firmly believe in extra protection. I have seen many testimonials, like yours, where an aftermarket bumper/bullbar set up saved lives!
And even at a slower speeds, the difference in protection can be large!
For example, my last encounter (that totalled my previous bumper) with a Dodge SUV (totalled and driver hurt) was at maybe 35 mph............

You guys have to stop posting pics of your second gens with those bumpers (I'm talking to you Shane and RJ). Those are pure ****. They both look really good.

Hubby had a Road Armor bumper on his '02 when he bought it. I guess it's a matter of personal opinion, but we both felt that it was wayyyyy too big an obnoxious.

I've seen a few here in northeastern BC. They still look huge

Obnoxious or not - a deer hit can cost upwards of $10k to fix. A stout bumper is just a good idea and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Not sure to whom you are speaking but... mine did not!

'YukonGrrl' - if you had one of the Road Armors with the big, curved, Bull Bars on it, I would agree.
Don't care for them myself.... but I know some members who love them!

Evil - no dispute there. Those monsters will stop a deer. That's why it was on there in the first place, when we bought the truck. There was no getting used to it, unfortunately.

And yes, it was the one that looked like a football helmet. WAYYYY too much for what we wanted with the truck. Maybe without the grill guard, sure.. there might be a custom bumper in the near future

Wow, that's pretty ugly really. Looks like something you would use to push over fence posts.

On Road Armors Web Site, they have testimonials about the "football helmet" Bull Bars, from Black Water guys in Afganistan. Something about that bumper preventing vehicle damage from flying roadside debris resulting from nearby exploding IED's.

Yes, yes it was...

Took a forklift to get it off, too.
