The BHAF we refer to is a disposable paper element filter.

Cover can be had here:

The BHAF we speak of is a disposable paper filter but it last and last and last... You will probably decide to change to a true cold air intake before the filter wears out. But if you don't, a replacement only cost about $30.

So I guess if you don't need water repellant you don't need the outerware, correct???

Or doe's it extend filter life, or keep it cleaner ???

Most people do it just for water repellence. I never saw the need for it. Even in the worst rain we get here, the filter stayed dry.

It should help keep the filter cleaner for a bit longer. But they will last 60-100K all by themselves-- isn't that long enough??

Yea I was just trying to justify spending the extra cash on something that slows me down anyway...
