Removing Raptor Pump...

Have been noticing a fuel smell recently.
--Had the VP replaced a few months ago, so I took it back in to shop to check the fittings/connections. The mech found a loose fitting and retightened it.
--I replaced the stock exhaust system also; checked all the connections and they are all tight.
--Examined the RAPTOR 150 pump, and noticed a very slight (seap) leak around the bottom plate. Wiped it down with a papertowel. Ensured the screws were tight (no movement). Let it run a few minutes (idle) and noticed the seapage (leak) returned, so I think that's where the fuel smell is coming from (not 100% sure). The Raptor has a lifetime warrantee so I'm going to send it back for replacing.
QUESTION: I don't think the hose/connections are pressurized. But how should I "plug" the hoses while I'm waiting for the replacement pump? I could put a pair of vice-grips on the hose, but I don't want to crimp/puncture the hose...big line hoses....I could stick my finger in each hose, but I'm gonna need my fingers while waiting for the pump Any recommendations? -d

Have you called AD yet? They just sent me a pump.

I used my air compressor and blew the fuel back into the tank to stop the siphoning...

AD ??

air compressor---great idea, didn't think of that!
what about from the fuelfilter-feed/side? (just the filter drain would be fine I guess) as long as the lines aren't pressurized...

Air Dog-The people that sell the raptor...

You'll need to catch it in a drain pan, but it will only be a quart or so. Just stopping the flow from the tank will be your biggest problem.

Thanks again.

Didn't get it from AirDog...bought from Glacier Diesel. Contacted Richard and he gave me # to call for return procedure.

Thanks again for the air compressor tip.

Get you a few bolts that fit inside the hose, clamp down with small worm clamps. Should do the trick. Providing you are talking about flex lines with push on ends.

I got a Raptor 150 from Richard a few years back (they are down the street from me here in WA). It sounds like the bottom plate may not be completely sealed off, perhaps it is not perfectly flat. I had the same problem when I ran a Holley pump, I even replaced the gasket a few times with a different material but it always leaked. I would return the pump if I were you.

Good luck !

Thanks; with lifetime warrantee, easily replacable, and has worked great for 4years...I'll go with the "return it" route. Have contacted Richard and return is in progress. Recommend working with Richard--knowledgable and customer service oriented.
