Rear axle with disc brakes swap into 94?
What all is needed to put an axle out of a newer dodge with factory disc brakes into my truck other than different rims?? Im still just trying to figure out my best option as to how to fix my dead Dana 70
Thanks guys
Eric
Thanks guysEric
To my knowledge all the disc brake trucks had Dana 80's- they have a different master cylinder as disc brakes use higher pressures and less fluid- the proportioning valve is different to make the system work. PK
I would think it wouldn't be too bad. You probably will need a adjustable proportioning valve and you will have to have a master cylinder that has about the same size piston probably smaller to keep your pedal pressure and stroke resonable. Just do the math about the size of the respective cylinders and look for a master cylinder that will give you what you need. You might be lucky enough to find something that will bolt in.

Thanks again!Eric
I'm new to the Dodges and would like rear discs myself. I just junk yard built a set for my Chevy suburban 14 bolt rear. I used the original master cylinder. I did have to change the proportioning valve and of course add calipers to the rear. I got the prop valve from a 78 Cadillac DeVille and just used 1/2 ton non e brake calipers in the rear. I could have used the Cadi rear e- brake calipers and had a cable custom made. I didn't feel like going that far yet. Rear discs are a lot easier than some people think. Hop onto a 4x4 forum of sorts and ask around. The off road guys love rear discs for stopping 40" tires. pirate4x4.com and ColoradoK5.com are two of my favorites for good off road tech stuff and mods.
