best way to get 50-75 extra horses?

i am farily new to the diesels, and was wandering about a few chips and which set up would be best for me.

i have a stock 2000 ctd 5-spd 4x4, i already have the fuel pressure guage and am going to get the boost and pyro very soon, i want an extra 50-75 horse and seen that there are several chips out there and I was wanting some heads up on them, the chips i will probly be looking at are the, edge ez, van aaken, and the blue chip 0-85hp adjustable chip,

along with the chip i will probly add a 4in exhaust, i mainly use it as a daily driver, every once in a while pull a 1 car trailer, and have pulled a three car trailer several times, im mainly wanting a little more power, and better fuel mileage, any advice will be very helpful

edge ez or superchips tuner. I had the supertuner, it gives 70 horses and i liked it alot plus you can change tire sizes to correct speedometer, and read and erase codes with it.

Alright, I'll take the bait and throw out the Catcher ECM. Do a search for Catcher ECM or MAD ECM. An alternative to "chips" and boxes. It WILL wake up your truck.

If you want 40-120hp I would check out the Edge Comp it costs more than the EZ but you get your moneys worth. I've had it on my truck for a week and the extra power is great

If you are looking for a nice 65 HP gain then I would go with the van Aaken V5 . It has great power and gives a nice fuel mileage gain also. Then there is cost. The V5 is about $100 cheaper than the EZ and is just as good or better.

I run an Edge EZ and am happy with it. My friend ran an ez but now runs a VA v5 smart box and he likes it much better than the EZ. If you want a comp you need to tap the wire to the vp44 to get full fueling range of box. If the truck is still under warrenty tapping the wire voids warrenty.

i will look in to the catcher ecm and the mad ecm, and i like the van aaken, also do any of these chips or ecms shorten the life of my vp-44, and do i need a pusher pump or will the stock lifter pump push it, and if so what kind of pusher should i look in to, also do i need to beef up my drive train or will it hold up pretty good
thanks

Having owned an EZ and a Van Aaken, and tested two different MAD ECMs, I can tell you that the ECM is head and shoulders above the others.

If you're never going to tap the wire, then an ECM is really your best option, and the best bargain, imo.

I agree with HOHN. If your never gonna tap the wire then go and get the ECM. BIG, BIG, BIG difference over stock. Instant throttle response, smoke on demand, and maybe a little better mileage.

the Van Aaken V5 is freaking awesome, I love it, it gives such a noticeable change, and the install is easy as heck! Just plug it in and velcro it down lol and away you go, you dont have to deal with the jumpers like with the EZ and it is smooth power across the board. I really like it. Best 400 I ever spent, I actually got mine from ETR diesel for 379.99 with no shipping charge, it was a really good deal, just shop around you'll find something you like!

You may get addicted to the power and find yourself wanting more very soon. I recommend the edge comp. Run it awhile with the wire untapped (otherwise known as EZ mode) until you want more then tap the wire. It's comaparable to having a corvett that can tow 10-15K

It's been explained that tapping the VP44 only precipitates an existing problem. If you tap the pump and it fails 2 miles down the road it was on it's way out and would have failed eventually anyway.

pick up a used ez or comp and some 275s , comp preferred because you can turn it off and run the injectors only on the highway for milage. You dont even have to tap the pump wire. I held for 2 years now without the pump wire , I have willpower unlike the rest of ya power hungry loons. Man you guys cost me alot of money.
