Question About Fuel Pumps

What year did they start using the electric fuel pumps?

I believe it was 98.5 when they switched to the vp44,but it might have been before that, not positive though.

Correct, the '98 12v was the last mech lift pump in the Ram pickup - VP44 on the 24v requires the electric unit.

Then why would they put fuses and relay for an electric pump in a 97?

Universal fuse box, used in all the trucks - are you the original owner, and are those components actually installed in the fuse box?
