Question about DTT trans
Question about DTT trans
Has anyone just ordered the torque converter and the valve body and installed it in a stock trans? What else dose a DDT trans come with other than new (upgraded) clutchs and bands

Thanks
Chris
Re:Question about DTT trans
Chrisf: I tried to do so, but after talking to Bill K I decided to buy the so called master kit to be on the sure side. This kit contained a whole lot of gaskets and seals and o-rings an all that stuff, plus all the friction material. Bills reasoning was something like " if you have it out you can just do it right the first time, and you won't have to wait for the part you miss at the moment if you have all of them there" Maybe the wait for parts part is not that much of a problem for you as for me, but the part about doing it right is definitely true. In my tranny there were several seals leaking, and if I had just upped the pressure those seals would have blown. In the kit there were also the 4.4 lever for the front band and a billet piston for the front clutch with a better seal. AFAIK you need the piston and seal to go for the real high torque pressures because on the stock piston the seal would be blown out- I MAY BE WRONG HERE ;D
About what else can be in a DTT tranny- billet input and output shafts, billet servos, and a whole lot of stuff that will depend on what you want to throw at the tranny

Re:Question about DTT trans
alpineRam, you are correct about the piston. Chris when you figure the TC and valve body with labor to install are about 2-2200, going the full route-clutches, billet servo, gaskets and seals is only about 8-1000 more (I think that included my Maghytec pan). The billet shaft is optional (I think it is about 6-700) and whether you need it depends on how much power you are running and how you drive. Its a cheap way to protect your investment.
Tim
Re:Question about DTT trans
Just did mine with many parts from DTT and you gotta dissassemble you trans to determine it's health. I found that I had done just a torque converter and VB it wouldn't have last more than 6 months. Internal clearences had grown to the point of damaging. Wish now that I had just drop the cash and order a complete trans, as my wife was on me to hurry so she could go racing our Cuda!
Tony
